YouTube now has a handful of feature films available to watch for free.  The films are entirely supported by ads. The list of free to stream movies includes classics like, The Terminator, Legally Blonde, and Rocky.

The feature has been available since October.  The films are available in the “Free to Watch” category in YouTube’s movie section where users would generally rent or buy movies and TV shows.

There are currently only 100 films free to watch but YouTube’s director of product management, Rohit Dhawan announced that the list will eventually get longer.  Experts believe that the YouTube’s new free film venture will be successful in bringing in more advertising revenue as well as bringing in a wider audience.

YouTube’s release of these free ad-sponsored films came soon after Roku’s ad-supported movie section called The Roku Channel became available online.  The Roku Channel also features a variety of classic films such as The Matrix and 50 First Dates.
