Instagram has been a popular social media platform for posting photos and short videos for years.  However, the main Instagram app does not allow creators to post a video longer than 60 seconds.  With the release of Instagram TV (IGTV) as both a stand-alone app and as a feature on the main Instagram app, users can now stream vertical videos up to 60 minutes long.

The app is unique in that is was built for full screen vertical videos.  It starts playing content from the accounts you follow as soon as you open the app.  It also allows users to see popular and recommended content.

The direct messaging feature available on the main Instagram app will also be available for IGTV so that users can easily send videos to friends.  Commenting will also be available making it easy to leave streamers feedback.

The app targets popular YouTube creators, encouraging them to stream their content on the IGTV app.  Popular users such as King Bach and LaurDIY have already partnered with Instagram to use and promote the app.
