When the Kindle Oasis e-reader came out last year, experts praised it for all of its great, easy to use features.  However, the Oasis comes with a price tag of $250.

The new Kindle Paperwhite offers all of the Oasis’s amazing features, but for only $129 for the 8GB model and $159 for the 32GB model.

The Paperwhite retains its traditional rectangular shape as opposed to the Oasis’s square shape.  The new Paperwhite is also 10% thinner and lighter than the previous model. It is water resistant.  Amazon claims that it can even endure ocean water as long as it is rinsed with fresh water afterwards.

It’s plastic screen is now more durable and scratch resistant.  It also has a fifth LED backlight to make the display brighter and easier to read.  The screen is the same a 6 inch 300 PPI e-ink screen found on the previous Paperwhite.

The home screen now even offers users book and author suggestions to improve user experience.  It also shows trivia, helpful tips, and statistics about your reading habits to help users to track their device usage.

The new Paperwhite also gets Audible audiobook playback to allow users to choose between reading or listening to their favorite novel.  Amazon even offers the use of their new software, Whispersync so that users can switch back and forth between reading and listening to the audiobook without losing their place.

The new Kindle Paperwhite becomes available to shipment on November 7.  However, they are available for preorder now on Amazon.
