Teen Apple Hacker Will Not Be Jailed
The Australian hacker who stole sensitive information from Apple several times over the last few months will not go to prison.
The teenager stole 90 GB of data including security policies and login keys from the tech giant. He was 16 when he started stealing data and is currently 19 years old.
When Apple realized what he was doing, the company informed the FBI, who informed Australian law enforcement. When police raided his home last year, they found the 2 Apple computers used for the cyber attacks with a folder titled “hacky hack hack.” The folder contained the stolen files.
The teenager claimed to be a huge fan of Apple with dreams of one day working for the company. He said that accessing their networks became “addictive.”
After cooperating with the police and showing remorse for his actions, the teenager was given eight months probation. No conviction was recorded.
The 19 year old has reportedly been accepted to a university to study computer security and criminology.
