We have yet to really see 4K video break out into the mainstream.  But, that has not stopped Samsung who is preparing to launch their 8K QLED television at IFA, a global innovations show in Berlin later this month.

Many consumers don’t see 8K as a worthwhile investment, especially considering that most channels don’t even broadcast in 4K yet.  In fact, one of the most popular broadcasts of the year, Super Bowl LII this past February wasn’t even 4K.

However, Samsung says that it uses AI technology to convert programming from 1080p and 4K into 8K without losing video quality.  They claim that there is a noticeable difference in picture and color quality, enhancing your television viewing experience.

Samsung has said that 8K will become available this year, but has not yet released any information regarding timing or pricing of the release.

So what do you think… are you going to be enjoying a new 8K TV anytime soon?
