Musk’s Boring Company Approved to Build Underground Transport Tunnel
The Boring Company founded by Elon Musk, has been given approval to build a prototype for a underground tunnel that would theoretically connect to a hyperloop for cars. The project will take place in Hawthorne, California on private property near Musk’s SpaceX headquarters.
The garage is designed to take cars down on an elevator and transport them into an underground tunnel that would connect them to the hyperloop. The prototype will not be open to the public. It will also not move cars onto the street which means that traffic will not be impacted by the project.
During the prototype testing, cars will stay in a 1 mile tunnel between the company and the residence garage.
Residents in the area have been informed of the project and assured that the noise pollution will be minimal.
If the prototype is successful, it could potentially start to change the way we think about transportation. The Boring Company is also working on a multi-billion dollar rapid transit system that would connect O’Hare International Airport to downtown Chicago.
