Google is now powering hearing aids
Nearly 466 million people around the world are affected by hearing loss. And now Google is about to make their lives easier.
The tech giant has partnered with GN Hearing in Denmark to enable hearing aid support on Android. The goal is to allow users to connect their hearing aid to their phones, making it fast and easy for users to control their hearing aid.
All users have to do is pair their hearing aid to their device via Bluetooth. Then they can control and monitor their hearing aid battery life right from their phone. Users can also listen to phone audio through their hearing aid.
Google is calling it Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA). It functions on Bluetooth but uses the lowest possible battery life.
Google has made the specification available on its source site so manufacturers can build in the new technology into their products.
